Wider than Gwydir is a program specifically aimed at students in Years 5, 6, 7 and 8 - a period of school we call the Middle Years. The program was developed here at Warialda Public school and is a Rural and Remote Strategy opening the minds of our youth to the opportunities that await them.
In 2017, the team at Warialda Public School were acknowledged for this incredible program by being presented with the Secretary's Award for an Outstanding School Initiative. The incredibly hard work of Amber Barnett, Jenny Waller and Dan van Velthuizen has made a significant difference to students across our region.
Since its inception in 2016, WtG has hosted speakers such as Sascha Estens from Rabbit Hop Films, Peter Baines OAM (Hands Across the Water), Lewis Holland (Australian Rugby Union), Chris Ryan (CEO Strike Group), Darren Hill (Pragmatic Thinking) and Brent Litchwark (Clough) to name just a few. With an incredible line up of guest speakers, the program is sure to again be a success in 2018.
